You can sponsor some members of your family to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and are at least 18 years old. You can live, study, and work in Canada if you are granted permanent residence status. You must provide financial support for a relative who you are sponsoring to immigrate to Canada as a permanent resident once they get there.

REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO FAMILY SPONSORSHIP:
 Being a sponsor:

You must be at least 18 years old.

  1. A sponsorship contract must be signed by you and the sponsored relative, in which you promise to help out financially if necessary. The person becoming a permanent resident will also make every effort to support themselves, according to this agreement.
  2. A spouse, common-law spouse, or conjugal partner must be supported financially for three years after they are granted permanent residency.
  3. A dependent kid has to be supported financially for ten years, or until the child turns 25, whichever comes first.
PILOT PROGRAM FOR SPOUSAL WORK PERMITS
The Spousal Work Permit Pilot Program permits spouses and common-law partners who are in the nation and the subject of immigration applications to work.

The program’s goal is to enable partners and spouses to continue working while their immigration applications are being processed.

Candidates for the spouse or common-law partner class must be in Canada and in the process of being sponsored for permanent residence. A legitimate temporary status as a visitor, student, or employee is also required of candidates.

SPONSORS RESIDING OUTSIDE OF CANADA:
Canadian citizens living abroad may sponsor their spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, or dependent children who do not have their own dependent children and who have not been convicted of a felony involving bodily harm, as long as they maintain that they will live in Canada following their sponsored landing(s).

QUEBEC SPONSORS AND SPONSORED PERSONS:
