THE CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS
QUALIFYING WORK EXPERIENCE
THE CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS
Under the Canadian Experience Class, people who have already worked in Canada and those who intend to remain there permanently with their dependents can apply for permanent residency.
CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS REQUIREMENTS
Pass-fail is the basis for determining who qualifies for permanent residency under the Canadian experience class. And the main requirements for it are:
- The applicant must have a minimum of 12 months of full-time work experience in a job that falls within Skill Types 0 or A or B.
- The applicant’s experience must have been obtained within 36 months of the application date and must have been completed by them.
- A suitable level of proficiency in one of Canada’s official languages must be shown by the applicant.
- The applicant is not barred from entering Canada for security, medical, or criminal reasons.
QUALIFYING WORK EXPERIENCE
EXPERIENCE AT WORK IS REQUIRED
Full-time and competent work experience is required to qualify (full-time is defined as 30 hours a week). Pro-rata consideration will only be given to part-time work. For instance, eight months spent working 15 hours per week in a skilled part-time job will count as four of the necessary twelve months.
Â
Any employment history obtained in Canada without a valid work permit will not be taken into account. Additionally, no periods of self-employment or employment will have been attained while the applicant was enrolled full-time in a program of study.
Â
LANGUAGE COMPETENCE
A minimum level of competency must be shown in each of the four language skills—reading, writing, speaking, and listening.Â
Â
Candidates must meet Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 if their qualifying work experience is in a profession classified as NOC Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A, and level 5 if their experience is in a profession classified as NOC Skill Level B.
Â
The exam d’évaluation de français (TEF) and International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam results are equal to the requisite level of competency in French or English in the following ways:Â
